BU Suitability Scope Two Emission Analysis

A project for environmental sustainability reporting based on data analysis of BU office supplies consumption.

The goal for the project is to explore the working supplies requested by BU staff and their expenditure, based on which we analyze the waste volume and GHG emission of the main categories (i.e. Coffee and Ink Cartridge) and their subcategories. According to the analysis, we provided insightful suggestions regarding to BU sustainability in the future.

This project focuses on collecting, collating, and analyzing sustainability data for Boston University’s office supplies, as well as the secondary market for supplying and disposing of used office supplies. This project investigates the waste volume of the specified categories like coffee and ink cartridges, the carbon emission for each coffee category, the purchasing pattern for specified coffer products, toners and paper, and the ways Boston University could ask the vendors to change the options they offer to optimize the waste that the university can make. Meanwhile, this project gives suggestions for the future actions that Boston University sustainability, like what kind of data they should start to keep track of and what kind of way they should manage the data to leave more possibility for future analysis.

The project’s final report can be found in this GitHub link.
